Is about heavily armed cops being shot by another gun-wielding nut. It’s here.

In your article, you say things like, “until we finally get serious about gun control” and “a serious, adult dialogue about our national gun sickness has to start at some point.” Yet in your very first sentence you choose to deride and demean millions of people who would have a stake in that “discussion” by labeling people “gun nuts”. Furthermore you are telling people to “get a life” simply because they don’t agree with you? How is that supposed to help bring people together to seriously discuss the issue? Seriously? Unless of course by “we” you mean “you”, the anti gun crowd, are the only ones who should be discussing it.
Gee, I’m really sorry I hurt your feelings. Now, go to your room and play with your gun. Lovingly stroke its barrel. Just keep the noise down.
Another super post! Indeed the argument that more guns makes for a safer society has more holes in it than the backstop at Bisley’s National Shooting Center.
Let’s divert the issue from the question of where do crime guns originate? How many mass shooters bought their firearms LEGALLY???
John, if the shoe fits…
You are gun nuts as long as you refuse to deal with the reality that the US has far too much of these sorts of incidents.
Of course, you need to watch the BBC’s “Suburban Shootout” to see what your armed society will turn out to be.
I mean isn’t 4 armed cops shot a bit much?
“There is under our decisions no reason why stiff state laws governing the purchase and possession of pistols may not be enacted. There is no reason why pistols may not be barred from anyone with a police record. There is no reason why a State may not require a purchaser of a pistol to pass a psychiatric test. There is no reason why all pistols should not be barred to everyone except the police.
Critics say that proposals like this water down the Second Amendment. Our decisions belie that argument, for the Second Amendment, as noted, was designed to keep alive the militia.”
Justice William O Douglas, Adams v. Williams, 407 U.S 143, 150 -51 (1972).
So if there ever is a “serious, adult dialogue” concerning gun control, you wouldn’t be included I am guessing.
I understand you are still bitter over the Heller ruling, but get over it.
“Let’s divert the issue from the question of where do crime guns originate? How many mass shooters bought their firearms LEGALLY???”
Not sure of your point here. Was the emphasis used to suggest no mass murderers buy their weapons legally, thus creating the argument that if the legal market is cut off there would be no illegal market?
The VT shooter bought his weapons legally. Good try though.
John, you have way too much time on your hands. Generating specious pro-gun arguments is no way to go through life, son. Go to your room.
Bill, I don’t understand why you can’t have a serious discussion on the subject? Your articles call for serious discussions about gun control yet you are incapable of having one here. I would seriously like to read what policy and legislative changes you would like to see happen.
How about background checks and registration?
You cite the Heller decision, John. Did you realise that Heller did not get rid of DC’s registration requirement? did you realise that Heller was unable to register one of his guns?
Also, if Miller could be overturned (which Heller did), why can’t Heller be overturned? In fact, Heller should be overturned as being totally without basis in law or reality.
As Bill points out, you are trying to dodge the issue and raise arguments that are more emotional than realistic.
So, John, cut the sound bites, stop citing Kleck and Lott, and realise that your arguments don’t hold water.
John: If you really must know, it’s because I’ve tired of hearing the same ridiculous arguments from gun lovers while innocent people, kids, are being killed by these goddam things. You people really have no conscience.
Laci: Federal background checks are already required for any gun purchase from a licensed dealer. And I understand the thinking behind registration, but honestly, how would that have stopped, the Fort Hood shooter? Or the VT shooter? So the gun is registered in their names, how does that stop someone from shooting people? Registration is not going to stop someone like those I mentioned from doing terrible things like they did. It just won’t. Canada has or is in the process of eliminating their own long arm registration requirement of its citizens. So if it works, why are they doing that? By the way none of that is rhetorical, I would really like to hear your response to the questions.
Also, what specific issue am I “dodging” that Bill presented? I didn’t see one, but I’ll gladly give my take on it.
Bill: Ok I get that you’re frustrated. What do you suggest be done honestly?
Do you have any idea, John, how goddam tedious you and your stupid arguments are?
Ever consider getting help?
You know, the fact that you are HuffPo’s new mouthpiece on the issue speaks volumes to the woeful state of gun control. You and your whole camp are a bunch of clowns. Do me a favor, when the subject of the 2nd Amendment comes up shut your mouth and let the grown ups talk.
