Baucus’ Flunkies Starting to Cave, Predictably

The New York Times is reporting that the all-too-powerful Senate Finance Committee has tossed the idea of taxing the very wealthy for national health insurance. And, to make things worse, it’s about to drop the public option in favor of the stupid, hasn’t-worked “co-op” plan being pushed by Sen. Kent “I’m Not Robert” Conrad:

“Already, the group of six has tossed aside the idea of a government-run insurance plan that would compete with private insurers, which the president supports but Republicans said was a deal-breaker.

“Instead, they are proposing a network of private, nonprofit cooperatives.

“They have also dismissed the House Democratic plan to pay for the bill’s roughly $1 trillion, 10-year cost partly with an income surtax on high earners.”

Let’s hope these dickheads can be, um, persuaded to stop whoring.
