Right-winger and former Rep. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) has welcomed Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) to the next year’s Pennsylvania Senate race.
Sestak may well challenge pathetic Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.) in next year’s Democratic primary.
In a statement, Toomey praised Sestak for being a “principled liberal.”
But the “L” word is no longer like being called a “commie,” Pat.
And, unlike in Connecticut, Specter can’t pull a Lieberman — Pennsylvania has a “sore-loser” law. If Specter loses the Democratic primary to former Navy admiral Sestak, which seems likely, he can’t run, as Lieberman did, as an independent.
So, one must surmise that Toomey still feels there’s a political advantage to calling someone a “liberal.” Why not a “socialist,” Pat?
