There’s been plenty of commentary lately by political worthies and pundits about the weakened state of the Republican, er, Republic, Party.
This line of thought usually goes something like, “This country needs a strong opposition. It needs a healthy two-party system.”
Not for a while, it doesn’t.
There are 20 years of Ronald Reagan-inspired trickle-down, help-the-rich-and-screw-the rich idiotic policies to reverse. A one-party system seems the best way to turn this oil tanker around the fastest, or, least slowest.
Give the GOP another few years in the cold so we can repair their screw-ups. These guys fucked up big time for almost three decades. A couple of Barack Obama terms should do it. By then, the Dems may well be in for a downsizing. But that’s quite a ways into the future.
