“The Death of Comedy”? Au Contraire!

That’s what the clever Jon Stewart predicted just before George “The Dauphin” Bush slunk away from Washington.

But, as we’ve seen in recent weeks, there’s a group just as funny — or even funnier: The GOP’s Klown Korps. Well-dressed humanoids like Sens. Cornyn and Kyl. Or Mitch “Senator McChinless” McConnell. And don’t forget the knucklewalkers who voted for them. Then there are the looneytoons, like Fox’s Glenn “Art Bell” Beck, and Rep. Michelle “Fruitcake” Bachman. Finally, there’s bloviator-in-chief “Boss” Limbaugh, who now has more chins than the Hong Kong phone book. (Maybe Rush could loan one to his pal Mitch).

There’s plenty to laugh about now, Jon. And, as comic Bobby Slayton put it so well, “If you can’t laugh at yourself, what the hell. Laugh at other people. ”

We are just entering the golden age of political comedy.

You want funny? We’ll give you funny. With comedy material like the D.C. weasels in the Parliament of Whores, how can you go wrong?
